Hundreds try hand at mullet toss | pnj.com | Pensacola News Journal
“Mike Pehlic of Kansas City, Mo., came to the 2008 mullet-tossing competition a champion.
He left a loser with excuses.
Last year, Pehlic tossed a mullet 148 feet in the finals and went home a winner in his age group. This year, he was only able to muster a toss of 110 feet in the finals and fell short of retaining his title.
‘I had a bad fish,’ the 42-year-old said. ‘It basically fell apart as I threw it. Otherwise, it would have been a good one.’
Pehlic and a group of his buddies have made the mullet toss on Perdido Key their annual guy trip since about the mid- to late 1990s.”
